Some people love to play in the rain. Playing in the rain has its own thrill for us. We do need this activity sometimes. You can jog, run or playing a volley ball and football in the rain. These activities will become fanciful activities. Another fanciful activity is detecting metal.

If you are fond of metal detecting activity, of course you will be understood why is it very good to play in the rain? When the land is wet, the detector could detect deeper level which means that you can get more stuff underground. The chance to get more precious stuff will be also bigger. This is the best time to go to detecting metal.

Detecting in the rain will be difficult if you do not have waterproof metal detector. Instead of buying an expensive waterproof metal detector, you can cover and wrap your detector with plastic bags. You can also buy a commercial meter covers if you want to.

The advantages of detecting metal in the rain is because there will be less even no competition in finding "treasure". You can go the beach. In this condition your device is able to detect deeper things. More over people are likely to be in their house rather than to go out side.

You need to have wetsuits and raincoat. The rain coat will keep you from the rain. The wetsuit keeps you from the wind. Wind in the rain will make you chill. You can wear raincoat after wearing your wetsuit. You can cover your eyes from dripping water using a cap. Some people said that baseball caps can works well.

You may need waterproof headphone to do this activity because water could damage your headphone. You can also use your regular headphone in the rain. As long it is not hard rain, your head phone will be okay.

Useful Compounds And Dietary Concerns Of Sodium

Though sodium metal is too reactive to be seen and has relatively few uses, many sodium compounds have important uses in industry, medicine, and everyday life. People sometimes talk about the amount of "sodium" in their diet. Or they may refer to the amount of "salt" in their diet. This high level of sodium intake troubles many health experts as too much sodium can be cause of hypertension which in turn may become cause of heart attack, or other serious health problems.

Chemical and Biological Species in Drinking Waters

While potable water and many of the chemical elements and their compounds present in it are indispensable for humans, there are a number of chemical and biological species, invariably present in drinking waters, that are toxic in any concentration and some of them become toxic beyond certain limits. It is desirable to have an idea of probable chemical and biological species that are generally part and parcels of drinking waters and have both beneficial and adverse health effects.

Surfwear and Surf Clothing

The Queensland Gold Coast is all about the beach, theme parks, holidays and fun and whether you choose to buy your surfwear and surf clothing before you travel or once you arrive one thing is certain – you will soon be dressed and a part of the surf scene.

Whether you are looking for something as simple as pair of men's or women's board shorts, a new surfboard, surfwear, surf clothing, hats, jackets, wetsuits or shoes, you are sure to find it either in one of the many excellent Gold Coast shops or over the internet. In fact there are some excellent online surf shops that stock all your favourite brands including Rusty, Billabong, O'Neill and Roxy just to name a few.

Surfing in Australia is an important part of the local culture and many people deliberately move to areas such as the Queensland Gold Coast so they can don the wetsuit and paddle their surf boards out through the break before looking for the perfect wave to carry them back to the shore.

Strangely enough it wasn't until the 1950's that surfing became seriously popular throughout the world. The popular music group the Beach Boys began to sing about their experiences, movies were made, books written and before long a definite beach and surf culture emerged along with a with variety of surfwear, surf products and surf clothing.

Today surf and surfing products are sold across the world, they are obvious in the coastal areas but also have a strong following in regional towns that are many hours from the nearest beach.

Certainly is would appear that there is no stopping the massive interest in surfing culture. From the early days of the Beach Boys it only took a few short years to propel surfwear from an almost unknown industry into the mainstream High Street shops. This transferred to the coastal locations were beaches were filled with surfers and where they couldn't surf, they would work in surfing fashions and dreamed of riding the waves.

Today, it doesn't matter where you travel you can find surfwear offered for sale and being sold all over the world. It goes well beyond the simple T-Shirts and swimmers to now include everything from bikinis to belts, sunglasses, socks, watches and underwear.

There are a large number of manufacturers that offer and ever increasing range of surfwear and surfing products. Some of the larger and more internationally famous brands include:

Billabong clothing which dates back to 1973 is one of the world most recognised brands. At the turn of the century Billabong expanded into the global markets and has since become a major player in the manufacture and distribution of surf related products from the Australia to the furthest corner on the planet.

Rip Curl was born on the south coast of Victoria, Australia in Torquay and operated out of a small garage manufacturing surfboards to meet the local demand. In 1970 they expanded into making wetsuits and the rest is history. Today Rip Curl makes and sells a wide range of surfing products and non surf branded products.

Roxy was launched in 1991 and is now considered the leading brand of active girls. Roxy is a brand that continues to grow and offers a broad range of products with everything from swimwear to pencil cases and body lotions.

Be Properly Equipped for Your Big Dive

Edit Article |

]]>

Scuba diving, or underwater swimming, can be a fun and fascinating experience if you are properly equipped with the necessary scuba diving equipment.

The word SCUBA actually stands for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. It was first used by the United States Navy in 1939 in reference to the military diver's rebreather sets; a kind of breathing set that supplies breathing gas that contains oxygen and recycled exhaled gas. There are two types of scuba sets: the open circuit (with diving cylinders and diving regulators) and closed-circuit/semi-closed circuit (or rebreather) scuba sets.

Having the proper scuba diving equipment will help you stay underwater longer and safer. Breathing through a regulator will allow you to move more freely and comfortably underwater. However, if you want to make your diving experience completely memorable, you will also need to take note of other equally essential scuba diving equipment and gears. Wearing a diving mask will help you sustain good vision even while underwater. They also serve to protect your eyes from any harmful element. Your flippers form part of your basic diving equipment. Make sure that they are a perfect fit otherwise you may just find yourself feeling utterly uncomfortable throughout the dive. A wetsuit is one of the most important scuba gears. Your wetsuits will keep you protected from cold water by preserving body heat. Wetsuits are normally made of neoprene and spandex.

Some divers prefer to wear a safety helmet, one that is not air-holding and comes with a built-in forehead light. Of course, aside from the basic scuba diving equipment already mentioned, it is also important for you to bring along your buoyancy compensator device (or BCD), torch/flashlights (for low visibility environments; for night diving), and diving boots made of neoprene and rubber (sometimes used in place of flippers).

Once you've gathered all your diving gears and equipments, you're good to go. However, before diving into the cool blue waters, make sure you've mastered everything your dive instructor taught you, or you'll end up regretting you ever went underwater!

Discover desirable scuba vest and diving knife discounts and you can also decide what product you want to purchase by browsing some of the pictures and discounted prices provided by JoeDiverAmerica.

When Joe's not in the water he's compiling products for the  Dive Equipment Catalog. Ironman Triathlon-Run Equipment Choices

Edit Article |

There are several run-equipment choices I feel can help you quite a lot in your quest for your first Ironman Trathlon finisher medal.

SHOES- Of course well fitting shoes are a priority. I've tried every sort of shoe you can imagine over the years and have come to this conclusion:

You can train just as well and stay just as injury free in $50 shoes as you can in $150 dollar shoes. For instance, what if an outlet has a brand new 2005 model shoe on sale for $69, and sells the new, improved (same shoe) 2006 model for $149. Does that mean the older model was no good and will hurt your feet? Of course not! In order to stay competetive, manufacturers have to continually make small changes and/or improvements in their product to stay in step with the competition.

The change from one year to the next may just be in the color, or new lacing system or a bit more build-up in some part of the shoe. Sometimes the change is really small.

Just shop around. See whats out there and in your training try several different types of shoes and when you find the one that just feels great, fits perfect, and never gives you blisters no matter how far you run---then that's your race day shoe. Try and make your choice for a race day shoe the lightest of all your shoes.

Remember: Whatever you do, don't go out and buy some fancy shoe for Ironman day because it looks really great. Go with the old shoe that got you there. Don't make any late changes.

I heard this story years ago and have never forgotten it and it's just a great example of what I'm talking about.

It's 1960, Rome Olympic Games. An African from Ethiopia shows up for the games. He is running in the marathon. He has no shoes. He didn't train in shoes. He trained back home by chasing rabbits for miles in his bare feet. A major shoe distributor at the games gave him a brand new pair of shoes to wear. He put them on. They hurt his feet. He took them off. Said "No, thank you". He ran the marathon in bare feet. Twenty miles were over the cobblestones of Rome.

HE WON THE GOLD MEDAL!!

Now the shoe manufacturer really LOVES him and gives him shoes to train in at home.

FLASH AHEAD 4 YEARS TO THE NEXT OLYMPIC GAMES--

This African runner from Ethiopia shows up at the Olympic Games. He is entered in the Marathon again. He is wearing shoes that he trained in at home. They don't hurt his feet now.

HE WON THE GOLD MEDAL!! AGAIN!!

HIs name is Abibe Bikila. The first African to win olympic gold--now they are a dynasty.

The moral of the story is:

If he had worn the shoes for the 1960 Olympics, not only would he have not won gold, he would have trashed his feet. Just imagine the blisters. He wasn't accustomed to wearing shoes.

If he had not worn shoes in the 1964 Olympics, not only would he have not won gold, he still would have trashed his feet. He wasn't accustomed to bare feet anymore and his feet would not have the same toughness as the previous olympic games.

So I repeat: Go with the footwear that you've done lots of training in. Don't make any late changes. When I found a pair of racing shoes I just loved, I wore them training until they were nicely broken in. I put those elastic, lock laces on them, so I never had to tie them again and I put them away. I wore them for 5 Ironman races. In that last transition, it was like putting on a favorite pair of slippers. I NEVER had blisters or foot problems. I ran one Ironman marathon in 3:34 in those same shoes.

FUEL BELT-I was so glad to see these come on the market. It used to really bug me to run a long distance in training with a water bottle on my hip. I just seemed out of balance. For that reason, I never bothered taking a water bottle out on an Ironman run course. You should really make a fuel-belt a part of your Ironman run-equipment for training and racing. The belt I prefer holds 6 smaller containers. They are spread out around your waist so you don't feel out of balance and you hardly know they're there during your runs. These are a particularly good idea for the Ironman marathon because you can use them for your favorite fuel if its not being supplied on the course. The belt also has reflectors built in for night running.

HEART MONITOR- I really feel that everyone training for an Ironman should make use of a heart monitor. It's just a really important piece of run-equipment. See my page on training with a heart monitor.

WEAR A CAP- I'm not sure why some Ironman Triathletes don't wear hats. They provide protection from the sun of course--but more than that--they are ideal for putting cold water in(or ice) at aid stations to keep you cool. On extremely hot days you just HAVE to do everything you can to keep your body cool.

CLOTHING- For training of course, you have to dress for the weather in your part of the world. For race day however there are a few ways you can go.

TRISUITS are a really good idea. You wear the trisuit under your wetsuit and you're good to go for the other two events. Usually they dry out pretty quickly, but you may be cool in the early portion of the bike ride.

A second option is tri-shorts and a seperate top. The shorts are padded for the bike and like the trisuit, you just wear the shorts and top under your wetsuit.

A third option is just wear a swimsuit under your wetsuit and make a complete change into clean, dry, and warm cycling clothes. Then make another complete change at transition two into running clothes.

In my later races when time was more of a factor for me, I went with the second option. I preferred a seperate top, because I had pockets(similar to a cycling jersey)sewn into the top to hold food. Normally trisuits don't come with pockets and its not really the type of material you can sew a pocket onto. Also, if I felt like changing into running shorts at the second transition it was a simple operation. Just wear the same top and change shorts.

For your first Ironman the run-equipment you choose can make a big difference in how you perform on the day.

The clothing you choose will make a difference to your comfort level on race day. I would recommend for your first Ironman Triathlon, that you take your time and go with clothing option number three. Just wear a swimsuit under your wetsuit, make a complete change into cycling clothes, and make a complete change into Your favorite running clothes and shoes for the marathon.

The Road To The Golden Gloves

One must consider in this day and age of boxing - boxers come and go, and fade into obscurity as fast as they came in. But there are a few exceptions that stand out, and they are few and far between. Who can say that one boxer in one era, and another in a far gone era is greater. Sometimes comparisons are hard to make. It's the impact that the boxer makes in his time period, that is important. It all starts in the amateurs, where a kid learns the style and grace that will take him to glory.

Swim Training for Triathlons – Making Your Time Productive

Many of us, when we take on our swim training for triathlons, do not place a lot of determination into it. We use our valuable time just swimming laps without much thought of any particular training to help make improvements. Perhaps it's time to take a look at what your objectives are and decide how you can make your time in the pool more productive.

Five Reasons Why You Hit the Wall and Run Out Of Energy In a Marathon or Triathlon

So many people hit that invisible "wall" in a marathon or out on the bike course in the Ironman Triathlon because of poor nutrition, poor hydration, lack of race-pace, lack of self-confidence, or over-training. Possibly it is a combination of all five common marathon or triathlon preparation mistakes that many novice marathoners and triathletes tend to make that causes them to have poor results after all their dedicated training.

Beginner Triathlete? Some Ironman Swim Training Tips

Often the swim is what strikes the most fear into the hearts of the beginner triathlete, but that need not be the case. It's just a matter of changing the way you look at the swim. Safe And Effective Scuba Diving Equipment

]]>

Clearly, being many feet under water for an extended period of time is not something humans were designed to do. But the art of scuba diving has opened up the possibilities - allowing us to journey where we were previously unable to explore. Of course, the reason that scuba diving is successful on this front is because of the scuba diving equipment that renders us physically able to stay underwater.

Scuba diving can be an amazing experience and one - for obvious reasons - that many find themselves addicted to after just the first time. But diving safely depends not only on the skill of the diver, but on the dependability and proper use of extensive scuba diving equipment.

The first layer of scuba diving equipment is that which covers the diver. The wetsuit, made of a thin layer of synthetic rubber and lined with nylon, forms a protective barrier between the diver and the water. The diver's skin is kept completely dry and the material of the wetsuit actually traps body heat against the skin guarding against hypothermia. It is important, for this reason, that the wetsuit be as snug as possible against the diver's body. In addition to the wetsuit, the scuba diver also wears flippers as part of their scuba diving equipment that allows them to maneuver effortlessly through the water.

Of course, the scuba diving equipment that most people associate with scuba is the oxygen tank. The oxygen tank is the most essential piece of scuba diving equipment as it allows the diver to stay underwater for extended periods of time. The oxygen tank is carried on the back of the diver; its size depends on the length and time of the dive. Most tanks also include equipment that allows the divers to closely monitor the amount of oxygen they have left so that they can resurface safely.

The facemask - another piece of scuba diving equipment - is placed over the mouth, nose, and eyes of the diver. Oxygen is pumped into the mask allowing the diver to breathe. The mask also enables the diver to see underwater without obstruction.

Scuba instruction of any kind will include comprehensive lessons on the safe and effective use of scuba diving equipment. It is imperative that scuba divers - beginners and veterans alike - use their scuba diving equipment respectfully and in complete accordance with operating instructions. Using these safety measures will ensure that you have an enjoyable - and memorable - scuba experience.

Triathlon - Basic Equipment Required

A triathlon is one of the most demanding sports there is but the sense of accomplishment and achievement experienced once you've completed one, far outweighs the time, effort energy and dedication required for it's preparation - not to mention the long term bragging rights!

Once you've decided to compete in your first triathlon, you will need to put your money where your mouth is and commit by purchasing the gear required. Once all the equipment has been bought, there is no going back, well there is but the guilt associated with all that equipment rotting away in your garage staring you in the face every time you go to mow the lawn could be overwhelming!

So, you've committed. What do you need. Well, here is a general rundown on the equipment required.

The Swim

Typical requirements for the swim are a cap, swimming goggles, a nose clip and a swim suit or wetsuit. Generally, participants are required to wear a swimming cap provided by the event organisers, they are usually bright in colour for safety reasons and can be different colours to signify different categories.

Ordinary wetsuits designed for snorkelling etc will not provide optimum benefits in a triathlon because the sleeves restrict the arm movements to prevent a comfortable stroke during the swim. Triathlon wetsuits are customized to the needs of a triathlete and include softer, more pliable rubber around the shoulder area, or are sleeveless. they also have longer zippers and can have wrist and ankle zippers to facilitate faster removal during the transition. Triathlon wetsuit also have a smooth delicate surface to reduce water friction and allow a faster speed through the water.

The Cycle

The obvious main component for the cycle is the bike. The triathlon bike is a variant of the road bike and the most significant difference is the addition of tri-bars or aero-bars. Because triathletes cannot draft as can be done in cycling events, aerodynamics plays a large part in the cycling leg of the triathlon. Frame tubes are oval rather than round and the wheels may have fewer spokes or even be carbon fibre tri spokes or discs. Tri bikes are very similar to time trial bikes.

Tri-bars or aero-bars are handlebars designed to reduce the wind drag on a cyclist. They are attached to the handlebars and have rests for the riders forearms while the hands are stretched forward to hold the centre bars. This keeps the elbows closer to the body and lowers the torso to allow for better aerodynamics.

Triathletes tend to become obsessed with aerodynamics in their quest to improve speed and performance with the result that manufacturers are concentrating more and more on improving triathlon bikes for the disconcerting triathlete.

Of course , other equipment required include the cycle helmet, the cycling clothing and triathlon shoes. Triathlon shoes are similar to cycling shoes in that they have automatic binding cleats that allow them to clip into the pedals. Tri shoes are optimized for this approach in that they may be padded to allow the athlete more comfort while not wearing socks after the swim, they may have holes in them to allow the water from the swim to drain easily, and may have only one or two velcro straps instead of three to allow for ease of fastening while cycling.

This is just a general view of the more obvious equipment required to compete in a triathlon. Of course, to begin, you don't need the most expensive bike with the carbon fibre frame or to have your brake and chain cables running inside the tubing, these modifications are for a later date when you too have become obsessed with shaving seconds of PBs. For now, decide you are going to compete in one, target a specific triathlon as your first, and arrange a training schedule to suit. It is a good idea to join a club as training with others will allow you to learn and get you out on those days that you would prefer to sit in front of the telly than go on a 40k cycle. Above all, have fun. Good luck and ENJOY!

Triathlons and Equipment Required

Triathlon is an equipment-intensive sport. To compete, you need to have gear for swimming, biking, and running (which adds up to a carload), and there are many added extras that are nice to have during training. Obviously, you will go faster with less energy on a 19-pound, titanium, triathlon filly than a 40- pound, discount-store steed. A fast
